You haven’t provided one reason why housing the homeless is bad. The onus of proof is now on you. Tell me, what’s wrong with giving them a place to stay?

Homeless shelters increase crime. There’s a reason. https://crim.sas.upenn.edu/sites/default/files/Ridgeway_Effect%20of%20Emergency%20Shelters-v5_1.2.2018.pdf …

“This study aimed to examine the effect of homeless shelters on crime in Vancouver. The opening of a shelter appears to be linked with a significant increase in property crime in the shelter’s immediate vicinity.” Lol come on

That’s your retort? No evidence to refute it? Just “come on?”

My retort is that the study you linked to doesn't come to the same conclusion as you presented it with.

Homeless shelters don’t increase crime?

(1) They don't. (2) The study you linked to doesn't come to that conclusion.

Conclusions. While homeless shelters are critical.., they appear to impact property crime in the surrounding community. Shelters may warrant greater security to control property crime, but the data suggest any increase in security need not extend beyond 400 meters. READ.

I think you need to read it closer, friend, because even what you just quoted doesn’t say what you think and claim it does.

It’s saying that there’s an increase in crime within 100m of the shelter on private property and less so on commercial. Spell it out what you think it’s saying, cause I’m quoting it.pic.twitter.com/1Afx5ehSwm

That’s not an increase in overall crime, that’s an increase in crime within the immediate vicinity. That doesn’t mean more crime is happening, it’s just that slightly more is happening very close to the shelter. Crime in general likely went down in the city b/c of the shelter.
