The views will ultimately equate to money. If you earn the watch time, you’ll get paid. I don’t feel the minimums are unreasonable at all, because to attain them only gets you around ~$6 per month anyways. Below that, I don’t see why it would be an issue to be unmonetized.
Personally I am not a fan of the recent change YT made, which if you don’t know, now you can’t get monetised unless you have over 1K subs & 4K hours watch time in the last 12 months, here’s my thoughts; @YouTube @TeamYouTubepic.twitter.com/SW5f9rGMgq

I guess you are right, it’s just so hard to grow on today’s version of YT, there are so many creators in every genre, I feel even just the chance to make money on smaller channels would motivate them even more, and animators 4 example, who do 30s vids, will struggle on watch time
