A4. It would help us understand how challenging the mission was. To cross unknown (to them at least) lands and crossing paths with unknown creatures

Excellent point! When the Corps first heard about Grizzly Bears (Ursus arctos horribilis) they thought that the natives were telling tall tales, little did they know that the 7 feet tall, 800 pound, 35 mph running bears were very real. #ParkChat
