It always blows my mind the left is allowed to push the “fair share” line. What does that even mean? The top 1% pay a significantly higher rate and cover over 40% of income taxes collected. Doesn’t sound very “fair” to me.

That's because they own 50% of the WORLD'S wealth. SOURCE: https://bit.ly/2QolmFv At the very top, taxes are regressive on the top 0.1%. A small minority, but that's still $80,600,000,000 taxed @ only 20%, leaving each of the 0.1 w/ 12,400,000. SOURCE: https://bit.ly/2s8Op6h

Income & wealth are two different things. We tax based on income, not wealth. Also capital gains can not hide normal income. When someone is paid in stock rather than dollars the initial value of that stock is taxed at the income rate (37%).
-
Capital gains are the difference between the base price & the sale price of that stock when the owner sells it. So a $1M stock grant yields $370K in taxes. If that’s sold in 1 year for $2M another $370K is owed in Short term capital gains, which is taxed at normal income rates.
-
If that $1M in stock is held over 1 year it is electable for the long term capital gains rate. So if it becomes $2M in 1 year & a day. An additional $238K is owed. This is at the peak 20% + 3.8% ACA long term capital gains rate.

She’s pitched this before and it was pointed out that all her taxes would raise 2 trillion over ten years while her plan means 32 plus trillion over the same period. So where is the other 30 plus trillion coming from?
-
It would break the back of capitalism. Which is what they want without even knowing it themselves. Obama took a swipe at it. Penalty’s for non compliance will come again under these loons.

We don’t need higher taxes. We need the taxes we already pay to be allocated efficiently and waste to be eliminated

-
No, billionaires absolutely need higher taxes.

AOC: "I believe we can do this." AC: "How?" AOC: "Don't know, but I'm a radical."
-
Of course we can fucking do it. That was around the tax rate for the highest earners during the Eisenhower administration

That's not exactly to what I was referring.
