Even the people I disagree with the most say many things I think are correct or at least in the right direction.

So what’s there to agree with in Charles Murray’s oeuvre?

I don't know much about Charles Murray, I was addressing the other names.

Murray is right that society is increasingly stratified by IQ, that the elite have different norms than the working class (in domains such as marriage, TV, children rearing, smoking and diet), that the elites should recommend these norms to the working class.

This stratification by IQ exists even if you don't look at interethnic comparisons. His book Coming Apart was only comparing white upper and lower class people.

I'm basically agnostic about HBD, but I've also read huge amounts of studies both pro-and-con, I'm also paid to do psychology research, and I'm bothered by intellectuals who are more confident than the evidence warrants on HBD. Like just notice that you are likely overconfident.

You said Murray was ‘right’; now you say you’re ‘basically agnostic’. Which is it?

I don't think Murray is right about everything? It's possible that society is increasingly segregating by IQ and that IQ differences could be also caused by lack of education, iodine deficiencies, lead poisoning, abuse, malnutrition, pre-natal hormones, not breastfeeding etc.

Acknowledged. I retract what I said previously.
