Definitely I am more responsive and offended by strawmans and mischaracterizations when they happen to people I like than people I dislike, and that's bad.
Murray is right that society is increasingly stratified by IQ, that the elite have different norms than the working class (in domains such as marriage, TV, children rearing, smoking and diet), that the elites should recommend these norms to the working class.

This stratification by IQ exists even if you don't look at interethnic comparisons. His book Coming Apart was only comparing white upper and lower class people.
