Turns out Popper was a bad writer, and everyone ever has been misreading him. Huh. How are empirical statements according to Popper different than synthetic statements?

Some synthetic sentences aren't empirical sentences, e.g. 'There exists a sentence in Greek that if uttered correctly summons the devil'. I'm currently working on how 'empirical' sentences aren't just language-dependent, they're socially-determined and dynamic.
