I reckon mid 90s, I remember there being more pink while at high school. Very few pink pencil cases & what nybut by time i was 16.....
It's often associated with the rise in Disney princess merch in the 90's
..... It was everywhere and because I hate pink I struggled to buy non pink school stuff
I used to have the shop till. Loved it.
It's about visible wealth & consumerism. Smaller families & more disposable income- showing you can have new ** for each child, etc.
Both my daughters were born in the 80s. Clothes, toys, books ... everything was less gendered than today! Old photos show no pink clothes!
Slogans on tee shirts didn't really exist then either. That made a big difference.
