As our country comes to terms with the damage caused by our excessive reliance on punishment as a response to crime, the use of the criminal law to sustain racial hierarchies, and the ways the justice system has undermined our democracy and weakened communities,

Non punishment as a response to crime has been tried: It's called a Republic of Pirates. Also consider Somalia. Instead, people shouldn't steal, rob, rape, assault, murder, etc... Claiming that "the justice system has undermined our democracy" disqualifies you as a DA.

1.Seriously? You don't believe that Black people have been imprisoned at a disproportionate rate compared to white people? While city governments & police waged war on inner city people of color, my white BF sold weed, shrooms & then cocaine with impunity.

"Black people have been imprisoned at a disproportionate rate" -- that unfortunately may be true, but also that group has a higher rate of crime as well, so that shouldn't be ignored. Your white BF should've been prosecuted if caught. Removing racism shouldn't mean soft on crime

You cannot ignore the historical context of this particular period in U.S. & SF history, nor how the past historical contexts have gotten us here. The term soft on crime is used by those who have no vision of a humane future nor an inclusive democracy.

Humane? Where people are robbed, stabbed, run-over by car burglars, their stuff smashed from cars, etc...? And the harmers are not held accountable and let go to hurt more people? Hundreds of people addicted and dying every year from dangerous drugs? That humane future?

G Love Retweeted Justice for Lindani Myeni
What about this? Is this humane what the tough on law boys did to this man? Do you complain about this?https://twitter.com/Justice4Lindani/status/1404879184816599041?s=20 …
G Love added,
Justice for Lindani Myeni @Justice4LindaniWhat led to it? Racism, implicit bias, “Karen of Coelho Way” weaponizing 911 to have an innocent, unarmed Black man executed—a police department w/over 30yrs of corruption, violence, & unchecked power whose officers are used to breaking all the rules and having zero consequences. https://twitter.com/KITV4/status/1404868948248698880 …1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

It's unfortunate & tragic. But doesn't the video show Lindani attacking the police officer? Do you ignore that as a factor? Btw, more white got shot by police; is it racism? (probably not.)pic.twitter.com/v30pDLPdB6
