My Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton just announced she has Parkinson’s. She has no intention of giving up her job or her busy life as a mother. Thank you Jennifer for your courage and leadership. We in the 10th are so proud of you. Lead on!

On Veterans Day, let’s remember those who fought in the Revolutionary War, risking everything to fight tyranny. My ancestor William Tomlin fought under Lafayette in the Battle of Gloucester. On November 25 and 26, 1777, 350 brave men forced the British and Hessians to retreat.

The Trump regime is trying to stamp out free speech at universities, threatening to cut off federal funding if certain words are used by professors in the classroom. There is a list of forbidden speech. Everyone needs to pay attention when our leaders trash the Constitution.

Today I remember my friend, the Monacan Nation poet Karenne Wood, whose beauty matched the Blue Ridge Mountain trails and the wide James River where her people roamed for centuries before we set foot here.

I dread the post RBG world but first I want to celebrate this stellar woman for her razor sharp mind, her courage, her endurance and the brilliant example she set for us, our daughters and granddaughters of what one woman can do. Thank you Justice Ginsburg!

My hero is Joe Rosamond, the California Army National Guard pilot who flew three missions in his Chinook helicopter into the raging Creek Fire around Mammoth Pool Reservoir saving 360 people from burning alive. Can we give this man a Silver Star? Let’s start a movement!

A sad day for this country to lose a great leader like John Lewis. He was much loved in the 5th District of Virginia. He was generous and kind and courageous and I feel so privileged to have known him. Let’s carry on his work.

Best news of the year. The Atlantic Coast Pipeline is dead. In Buckingham County, Union Hill is saved. Nelson County will not be ravaged. Virginia’s waterways will be spared. We can all celebrate and thank those who have worked tirelessly on this issue.

The numbers at our local Food Pantry in Rappahannock Va. are staggering, up 400 percent from this time last year. Please support the Rappahannock Food Pantry or your local food bank!

According to the Government Accountabily Office, ICE has been deporting our veterans. ICE has no idea how many have been thrown out and estimates are in the thousands. Veterans, because they have served, are naturalized citizens. No one told ICE.

I never thought I would agree with Ted Cruz but he’s right. Tariffs are taxes and states like Texas and Michigan will be hit hard by tariffs imposed on Mexican goods. Cruz says the plan will cost Texans 30 billion in new taxes. President “Taxing” Trump is at it again.

Over the weekend we celebrated three great Virginia campaigns: 31st Delegate Elizabeth Guzman, 18th District candidate Laura Galante and Va Senate 17th Candidate Amy Laufer. These are women who will turn the tide in Richmond. Please support them!

Today I remember my father, an officer in WW2, my grandfather, who earned his Silver Star in WW1, and my 5th great grandfather, who fought in the American Revolution to defeat a rancid government that had descended into tyranny, led by a mad king.

The trade war demonstrates what a terrible businessman Trump is. Tariffs are taxes paid by American companies and American consumers. The Republicans have saddled us with whopping new taxes, dwarfing any relief they promised from the tax bill.

The people of Florida voted to allow up to 1.5 million ex-felons the right to vote. Now these potential voters are told that if they have unpaid court fees they lose that right. Imposing “excessive fines” is against the law. The Eighth Amendment is very clear about that.
