#Newspoll 57-43 is the biggest 2PP lead for either side since the Labor opposition led the Abbott government by the same amount in Feb 2015 after the Prince Philip knighthood announcement and Queensland election loss. L-NP had larger leads vs Gillard Labor in 2013.

I've had to explain to incredulous foreign unionists and labour law types that we can only strike to get a agreement, but only with permission of a Gov tribunal (where the employer gets a say) & a voting process not controlled by workers & then after giving multiple days notice.

💯. The window for a legal strike is very, very narrow, fiendishly hard to access and absurdly easily injuncted. All sympathy strikes / boycotts are unlawful. All strikes about a political issues - eg re a Gov trying to abolish medicare - likewise.

Interesting in the way that both Gorbachev and Mandela have become empty signifiers unto which centrist commentators project their political fantasies, with little correlation of what both figures did or stood for.

Greens think by framing the housing crisis as anti developer, they are talking to renters. No, they are talking to the asset class who they have been protecting for years. No density or development in the inner suburbs is music to the ears of boomers and gen X who own homes here

Housing policy is like superannuation, left accurately points out debacle of existing neoliberalism but short on solutions-red Vienna won’t be built in suburbs, rent control is a stunt?

Greens, like others in our parliaments have spent so much time contributing to the housing crisis, they have no idea what renters want
Here is some news. Young professionals don’t want social housing. They want to buy within their community, affordable, well sized apartments 1/

Back in 1990, Algis Budrys while reviewing a book about the 100 best fantasy novels made the observation that fantasy is essentially conservative, while science fiction is essentially liberal. The bit about Alf of Swineherd stuck with me ever since. google.com.au/books/edition/

Thread. Some nuance. These areas have the greatest number of occupants who own their homes outright. We do know that asset wealth, does skew people towards voting Liberal. This may occur as they get older or the time it takes to pay off the home.
So what’s going here? 1/

Berlin’s new fleet of electric buses can’t come fast enough. As the German capital struggles to meet its climate goals and deal with an energy crunch, it’s quickly expanding a battery-powered overhaul of its public transit fleet.
For , I wrote about the woefully misplaced media conversation as to whether Biden's democracy speech last night was "political," which was a bit like seeing your house catch fire and shouting, "Wait a minute! This is a house!" /1

Nice demo work in the age today. Compare today’s age groups to the 2018 state result. You can see why Labor has started to do a lot better in Ringwood. Federal result is similar.
Always pay close attention to the voters roll.

Let's say you are a big corporate head. You know given 2-party system & negative partisanship, it's only a matter of time before Trumpized GOP is back in power. You want to signal to that party you are not someone who will be in opposition, won't make waves. It makes sense.
