my rule is: up to 3 days out of date, who cares? 
it's so hard to buy portions for 1 person and eat them all in time!!

Most things can go 1 to 3 weeks past best by date, if kept in the freezer even 1 to 3 months. As long as it's sealed it should be ok a day or 2 later, check for molds or smell before using

yeah smell is the best sensor 100%! i always sniff stuff and if it smells ok, it eats ok! also frozen veg is AWESOME you can shove it in a stir fry and it lasts AGES
