I'm amazed the liberties some landlords take when they forget how easy it would be to eliminate the existence of their "profession". Just takes enough of us to realise this and boom, compromises like rent controls dont seem so awful anymore.

I live in rented accommodation and whenever anything breaks, usually mh own doing tbf, I fix it or pay someone to come fix it. The only thing ive contacted the landlord about is the boiler. Like to keep him away if I can, I have many cats he is unaware of.

Previous landlord of mine disabled her voicemail so she wouldn't get telemarketer messages, and then complained that we didn't get in touch with her to tell her we would be gone from the apartment for a few weeks. Never seemed to cross her mind that those things were connected...
