in america we often have a tray that holds the carton, but not individual eggs!!!
i had no idea! every fridge i've ever had has had one!
You don't need to refrigerate UK eggs. Putting eggs in the fridge is an American thing. They wash eggs by law, which removes contaminants, but it also removes the natural coating of the egg, leaving the shell porous. So their eggs go bad v fast if left out. UK eggs are fine.
it's weird how every uk fridge i've had has one of these holders, but i'm getting lots of replies saying they don't have these in america?! whaaaaat is happening also i know NOTHING about eggs LOL
I have only just realised that's what it's for
In america our fridges have a space in the door for eggs but its not a individual egg holders because the cartons you buy them in act as that for us.
Seems like a 70s thing in the US
I'm pretty sure all of my family's fridges have come with them, but we get rid of them 'cause, uh, eggboxes exist
i think its a europe thing or even a uk thing, apparently in other countries they don't keep eggs in the fridge, or i may have heard wrong
In the past we always removed the egg holders and shoved them in the same drawer the instructions booklets live in
