During CBT they suggested making a box that you can access if you need it. It should contain stuff that helps you, it’s a personal thing. It could have a book to read or write in, a blanket, it could have virtual elements like a song, a movie, photos. Maybe a smelly thing.

I use the 5-4-3-2-1 version of this: 5 things you can see, 4 things you can touch, 3 things you can hear, 2 things you can smell, and 1 thing you can taste. Really helps to break my brain out of the anxiety thought patterns.

This genuinely works. My partner finds it easier if I ask him to find those things rather than him tell them to himself. It gets him out of his head and back into his surroundings. If we’re not together when an attack happens, he’ll message me with a code word.

Can confirm. Sounds silly but it really works.

I've never heard that before. But as someone who suffers from attacks semi recently, I'll be sure to try it. Thank you!!!
