i can't read kanji yet, my phone autocorrects my hiragana into kanji & i have to put almost everything i type through google translate to check i spelled it right BUT this time last year i knew nothing! so much progress in only 1 year!

My phone shows a bunch of kanji that what I'm typing could end up as, but it doesn't change the hiragana unless I pick one. It's kind of cool when one of the few that I know pops up though, makes me feel like I'm actually learning something lol

It definitely doesn't fit everybody's way of learning, but I'm having good luck with Duolingo. It's certainly helping to teach a very old dog a new trick ;-)
