The same reason anybody would watch sports. They're often good at what they do. What's more, twitch streams are often more like live podcasts or talk shows which they can also relate too Just gotta hit their negligence and narrow mindedness with things they typically consume

i tried using the football analogy and when that didn't work i tried "listening to someone on the radio" and that sort of got through? but then he said "i don't see how it's different to watching someone go shopping" so i gave up

Boomers are just scared because they no longer recognise the world they live in and are going obsolete. Also they don't remember where they put their glasses.

The same reason we watch sports, cooking shows, or musical performances. If watching other people play sports and cook and sing is acceptable, why isn't is acceptable to watch other people play video games?

Because said people are entertaining? Why would one want to watch any form of video entertainment, the clue's in the name! A TV Show could be on the most interesting topic in the world, but if it's presented by BoringMcborington of Boringville, no one would want to watch it.
