hi friend hello here are my top life pro http://tips.tm SAVE AS MUCH AS U CAN ok so the 6 months rent save thing is a great idea but i never did it! go for a houseshare to start i would recommend, much cheaper and you can learn stuff from housemates!

also you roughly want your salary to be at least 2x your monthly rent! mortgage is ideal, but i'd say rent first to see what areas you like (+ mortgages are ridiculous, go for it when you have a stable, high paying job! the housing market is also awful atm)
living with friends has worked out badly the 2/2 times i've done it 
you find things you dislike in each other when you live on top of each other! strangers are great as it doesn't matter if you end up hatin' 'em!

i've never heard of bedroom tax but there are different types of council tax bands depending on what the property is worth; living in a cheaper/smaller property means cheaper heating & council tax! (and also the actual council it's situated in!)

and lastly wilko is a godsend for housing stuff; they do cheap cleaning products, lighting, storage, some furniture etc., great for a beginner! hope i can help & ask away if you have any Qs as i've probably missed loads of info!
