Well he'll have to if he's to properly apologise and make amends for the abuse of trust perpetrated on the women and children of Ireland by the church. And I'm fairly sure he's going to do that, at least I can't think of any other reason for him to come to Ireland.

What I would be most interested to know Is were you offered communion or was it organised that you would not go up. normally would not ask but it was an official public event for both of you and he is obliged to refuse you under canon law
