    To Tesla’s credit, this time it’s pushing out an over-the-air update to the key fobs via cars’ internet connections instead of replacing hardware, which is pretty impressive. Still a good idea to turn on the cars’ PIN protection feature.

    A year ago, researchers broke the encryption of the Tesla Model S keyless entry system, showing hackers could wirelessly clone key fobs to steal cars. Tesla made new fobs. Now the same researchers found a bug in the new fobs and cracked them again.

    I'm releasing all the slides (~800!) of my Mobile Security class: ! They are not perfect, but students learned how to reverse apps, find&exploit real-world bugs, reason about threat modelling / system security, etc. Very proud of them :-) 👶 => 👨‍💻👩‍💻
