Maybe access to hundreds of millions of people, as well as extreme legal fees. To me this looks like a system that complies with the horrible copyright filter of the EU.

Wouldn't it be as simple as looking at who filed the original takedown notice? Or am I oversimplifying it? Also, if it's someone like Sony then losing that company for other platforms could be damaging. (Android, gmusic etc)

If they lose safe harbor, do they lose it across the board, or is it only for that particular case? Also, any liability they're taking on is to the same rights holder that's making the claims, right? So, is it smart for YT to do this?
