    Losing a party-switcher is never a "big blow" because the fact of switching reveals he was never reliable to count in the Democratic caucus in the first place. An extra win to make up for him was always needed.

  11. I am 1,000,000% certain that HE is the Democrat that went to the Republicans and said he wanted to switch parties. He already had a conservative voting record in the NJ legislature, and pledged to not vote for Pelosi for speaker.

  16. 2016 was a deeply awful primary because the outcome had been predetermined by party elites several years in advance. This bred a justifiable sense of grievance among Sanders supporters; it also broke the brains of a lot of smart Clinton supporters who felt compelled to justify it

  18. i won't push major policy in my first two years because i won't have the political capital in my second two years i'll be running for reelection so policy must go on hold in my second term i will need to focus on helping elect my successor but in my last six months I PROMISE.

    My 7th graders were discussing lowering the voting age today and one argued that 16-years-olds wouldn't take it seriously or make careful decisions. Another kid responded, "If adults make such good decisions then how did we end up with Trump?"
