Janurary 25th was our last day of peace in this country. It’s a day to acknowledge what was, prior to invasion. Prior to the war against our Country and our people. Use this moment to remember what we’re fighting for, tomorrow and everyday, until we have a Treaty in this Country.

Yes! A lot of research is based on gender binary. We should be mindful that many studies (esp. population level) likely include data where there were restricted options for people to identify their or others’ gender… therefore gender may have been assumed or incorrectly recorded

I would hope that this is not a controversial thing to say, but I feel like, as a research community, we need to rethink reporting gender as "female(n/%)”...

I know I'm definitely not the only one that cares about this! (And about making research more inclusive and reflective in general.) If you know of any good examples of how this is being done already, please feel free to share below, I'd love to see them! ☺️4/4.

I'm noticing a trend towards researchers more accurately capturing the diverse range of participant genders in their research (awesome!!), yet still reporting overall demographic snapshots as "female (n/%). 3/4

Using "female(n/%) implies that we can calculate the rest of the sample's gender implicitly based on that information alone. If gender were binary, that would work, but it's not, so it doesn't work. 2/4

We need to stop evaluating #peersupport using clinical outcomes.
It impacts engagement in recovery, self-efficacy, empowerment & hope: ps.psychiatryonline.org/doi/10.1176/ap
It also supports engagement with clinical services:

Friendly reminder that you can bring in one of them cheeky elf’s in the lead up to Xmas & have them just be there to be a prankster. They don’t have to be a cop monitoring your kids to report to santa. You can choose to do the fun stuff without bringing in that dynamic 🎅🏽 ☺️

'Mental health' is the capacity *for* (contained) pain & suffering — it is *not* the absence of pain & suffering.
The latter is an impossible western fantasy, one which has led us down a path of collective alienation & despair.

This isn’t an Aboriginal problem. This is a problem that runs deep in the white veins of colonisation where property has more value than a black life.
This is history repeating itself. They killed our people for land.
