Why is everyone arguing about the Cochrane review on masking? Of course it makes sense that the review concludes that studies show that masks don't work at a population level when people in the population are either not wearing any or wearing them well. Am I missing something?

why would you let anti-maskers write your Cochrane review of masking, and develop your WHO policy on viral transmission, and hence, masking?

My base rate is optimism, but it’s hard to shake the sense that we are headed for a geopolitical shitstorm of generational proportions.
Few indicators are reading positive right now.

Seems like an awful lot of lousy doctors are aligning themselves with Ford and his privatization move.
They will stand to gain financially (somehow) so the tradition of Doug rewarding mediocrity continues.

When a parent says that their children were irrevocably damaged by spending two months at home with them, I think that says a lot about the parent, and not much about anything else.

Hold on - wasn’t it those pesky free markets - that she champions - reacting in horror to £45 billion in unfunded tax cuts? That led to surge in cost of borrowing, near collapse of pension industry, and more costly mortgages for all of us. Didn’t Liz Truss bring Liz Truss down?

Dr Fishman, did you look at the thread this is taken from? You cannot ignore the whole thing and pick and choose one tweet that suits what you want to argue. And attacking the media is cheap. I really need all healthcare workers to know that public health officers have civil immunity. They can’t be sued by patients or their families if this policy causes harm. And the college doesn’t accept complaints against them either. Neither of those 2 things are true for you.

This is pretty outrageous- HCW's in BC are being told to NOT test themselves for COVID-19 and therefore do not need to isolate for 5 days.
In a memo to staff, Island Health's Dr. Réka Gustafson says the majority of HCW's should not be tested and discourages them from doing so.

I am fascinated by the people who run around all day claiming diversity and inclusion are important to them and then refuse to mask, refuse to include the immunocompromised, refuse to create safe air, refuse to keep gatherings small and post pictures all over the web of it all.

Every high risk person should have a filled prescription of Paxlovid at home, as well as instructions how to take it, for when they get infected. This should be the standard default plan.
It’s ridiculous how many high risk people struggle to get Paxlovid in a timely manner.
