A lot of times folks crowing about their "adventurous" palates sound like "see I'm not like those OTHER white people" but your willingness to eat things is not actually an indicator of how respectfully you interact with other cultures. Especially if you want a medal for it.

I would argue that eating food that you aren’t accustomed to is adventurous, but that is neither a good nor bad thing. It is not that the foods themselves are inherently adventurous (the list has spam, crab, and blue cheese), but having many that are outside your own norm is.

For me it's a bit funny cause they put anchovies on the list and is kind of typical food in Spain. And we are white europeans, so i guess USA made the list, for them if you're not north american you must be so exotic. And they think we're mexicans so.

As someone with major taste and texture issues, I really wish people would stop employing the inherent judgement in using "adventurous" as regards food. It's right up there with "ambitious."
