I wonder if it’s magical thinking like oh baby booms mean more conservative values or tying booms to good economic news or a general “where’s my grandkids damnit” but they do talk about it like it’s already happened and these guys don’t need another failed prophecy

Can’t believe I missed the unspoken “finally! With black and brown people disproportionally killed by the plague we can out breed the lesser races!” implication in this fixation

Who would want to have a baby now ? My kids are 20 and 17 , and I'm so sad/angry for them having to deal with all of this damned mess. I'll be surprised if I ever have a grand baby, given the state of the world.

It's the delusion that the working age population is living similar lives to them lives at the same age, despite all evidence to the contrary. They might have to confront the effects of their choices if they realized things have taken a turn for the worse.

Man, I'm in my 30s and I can't even financially support myself. I wake up at night worried about my parents in their old age. Where do children fit in there?

Also, the whole concept of after covid has me fucked up We can't even get through covid. We can't even get this country vaccinated fully and people are already making plans about what's going to happen after it's "over" I'm not sure there's going to be an after.

I don't even mean in the sense of covid is going to become a new endemic flu that is somewhat manageable. I mean I don't even see how we're going to get *there*. We can't control the disease when people refuse to make their citizens wear masks, socially distance and quarantine.
