* @CDCgov just said, legally quarantining evacuees in Calif 14 days. It's a reasonable evidence-based precaution. Incubation #WuhanCoronovirus 2-14 days; prudent ph measure. But CDC shd have tried volun coop: As a social contract for evac, citizens agree to act for common good.

Influenza has a 0.1% mortality rate, while coronavirus is around 3% currently. That’s why limiting cases of coronavirus is so important- on the same scale as influenza millions would die.

This report says 194 of 195 evacuees agreed to voluntarily stay in isolation. Must be doing something right in terms of communication. Makes me hopeful the virus can be addressed in the US without going to hard coercion if the right people are left in charge.

In Canada people returning from PRC have self regulated. Why voluntary not tried.... With the CFR potentially plummeting the economic cost of not trying voluntary may be awful retroactively and unneeded.

Amazed to see that for each step to deal with corona virus .. human rights and legal issues are being checked.

The cost of letting in a deadly virus is much higher than lost freedom for a fortnight. If I volunteer, great. If I don't, use the law to limit me. Protect your people. I don't deserve rights, if I am not responsible to my social obligations.
