We need to stop pretending FB & Twitter aren't arms of the US state. For over a year they've deleted accounts of Iranians, Venezuelans, Russians, & Chinese simply for daring to voice opinions different from the imperialist narrative, under the aegis of combating "disinformation."pic.twitter.com/bML58Ufpe0

FB & Twitter routinely rely on reports from CIA-funded security firm FireEye & the Atlantic Council's Digital Forensics Lab. However, FB admitted it can't prove the "coordinated disinformation networks" it shuts down are real:https://sptnkne.ws/m7aE

These reports often claim the accounts were "used to promote content from inauthentic news sites," but that simply refers to outlets like PressTV and TeleSUR, which don't toe the Western MSM line. As always, it's only propaganda when somebody *else* does it.

In one absurd example in January, Facebook deleted the *private accounts* of dozens of @SputnikInt employees at the bureaus of several Eastern European countries, accusing them of “coordinated inauthentic behavior” b/c they shared news of local interest.https://sptnkne.ws/k5dN

Inevitably, when the US targets a country for standing up to it, we're bombarded with stories of evil deeds to justify US action against them. This is not propaganda, to them, it's simply "facts." However, try to counteract the massive MSM infowar - that's disinformation.

I'm above using the trite descriptor of "Orwellian," but there's something deeply nefarious about calling lies facts & facts lies. It's been a key part of manufacturing consent since WW1, when they learned so many lessons about what Edward Bernays honestly called "propaganda."

Both Lippmann & Bernays thought that manipulating Public Opinion via mass psychology (i.e. advertising basically) was an essential part of modern society - and they were key parts of that in 20th century US, from despising "The Hun" to buying cigarettes cuz they're "wholesome."

So apparently the arch-conservative "newspaper" ( I use the term loosely) Epoch Times is run by a doomsday cult who believe Trump is a sort of Second Coming of Christ, but sent to destroy the communists instead. Oh, and they *love* Qanon. https://www.nbcnews.com/tech/tech-news/trump-qanon-impending-judgment-day-behind-facebook-fueled-rise-epoch-n1044121 …

Are you claiming that creating fake accounts masquerading as US citizens, media orgs, and political parties is "simply daring to voice opinions different from the imperialist narrative"? This fake "Tennessee GOP" account managed to get amplified by Trump.https://twitter.com/conspirator0/status/1129307736167067649?s=20 …

Sometimes popular disinformation accounts get banned, and sometimes their creators recreate and reintroduce them to their previous audience. You mean like the Democrats did in Alabama's 2017 special election? 2 Dem-backed groups spent $100K each in a few weeks - the same $ amount the IRA is accused of spending over 2+ years on US political ads. Dems then tried to blame this on "Russia."https://sptnkne.ws/kyGA
