Is anyone else worried that the photographer (drone operator) is luring the bears away from land in a way that might be endangering them? Are the bears savvy enough to head back towards land & punch air holes as needed? Can they punch through all the way until they can climb out?

agree - what was the purpose of this video, was it research? Or was it just a jolly? The bears are using valuable energy up. Animals are not toys to be used for our you tube enjoyment.

curious how long they enticed these beautiful and endangered animals to expand valuable energy with no chance of making a kill to replenish it.

That is a very good point. Not many people would think about that. I hope they left them something to eat afterwards!

My only hope is that this video was taken by a drone, not a person standing on the ice

Hope these polar bears will find land again & not drown?
-
I think they are good swimmers... they can jump from a floating ice to the other and they hunt fish too, but it's true that they need to save their energy to hunt preys (seals, fishes)...
