XBB.1.5. is the latest variant in the spotlight, rapidly gaining ground as the omicron descendant causing most infections in some areas. While its high transmissibility is worrying, and I report there are reasons to be optimistic.

New: doctors in Nepal say they're seeing abnormal rates of chronic kidney disease among migrant workers returning from hot, humid countries. Nepal is just the latest. Similar findings in Nicaragua, Mexico, Thailand etc, and the NIH is funding research on TX, FL farmworkers...
