CA Assembly unanimously passes 2 emergency funding measures: up to $1 billion for expanding hospital capacity and buying motels to shelter the sick, and $100 mil for schools to (among other things) do a deep clean of campuses
Zero partisanship on the measures: GOP Asm. @JayObernolte said “We are placing an extraordinary degree of trust in Gov. Gavin Newsom, however these are extraordinary times... These funds are critical to making sure our infrastructure is built up to deal with this emergency.”
The Senate still needs to vote on the measures. AND an outstanding question: Will lawmakers be done with business at the Capitol for a long time after today, or will they stick around despite widespread calls for isolation?
These two emergency funding measures have now also passed the Senate unanimously.
What about the workers who can’t pay their rent now???
