Whoever built the house bought some bad hype about some new "standard". Meanwhile, Mr. Edison's screw in connector works perfectly fine. If it was me, I'd replace the fixture so you can use normal bulbs.
We bought an adapter so we can use normal bulbs without having to replace the entire fixture, thank goodness.
