I'm kinda serious though. Birth dates are not a matter of public record (for people still alive,) so why is @IMDb allowed to share people's private information without their permission? Isn't that an invasion of privacy? What about identity theft? Gonna post ss#'s next?

Birth dates are different than your SSN. People celebrate their birthdays in public. It pops up on your FB notifications when it is someone's birthday. I do agree, if someone does not want it on a social site, it should be removed. On FB my birthday is set to private.

But the birth year? I keep that private for security reasons. That's the difference. With full birth name and full birthdate available after a quick Google search it puts my identity at higher risk of theft and imdb gives me no control over the visibility of that information.
