If I could thank that theater teacher for anything it would be that I learned 1) how to take rejection repeatedly early on (cause you face A LOT of rejection in the day to day of acting) 2) Some people won't like you, and never will, and you can't waste your time on them.
Also, because I realize in the interest of space I didn't phrase it well originally: I was only cast BECAUSE of my long hair, had I NOT had long hair, I would have not been cast in a single play all 4 years.

I did stage crew in high school theatre cause it was full of petty drama on the cast side and I am soooo glad I didn’t get involved in that mess, but yeah High school theater is rouuugh. I’m so happy you showed that it means Jack regarding irl success. :)
And I actually really like singing too which is the sad part. But hey, that’s life.

The play took place in Appalachia, and the teacher thought it would be good practice for the kids in the hair/makeup track to research authentic hairstyles of the region/period and apply them to actual hair (not a wig) for the production. So I was a mannequin basically.
I still remember when the theater teacher begged me to audition for the musical my senior year after giving me nothing but chorus roles like nah just cause you know I can sing NOW. She never gave me the chance to act at all lol.
