I just really love Arthurian legend. All sorts of interpretations are fun to read, so it doesn't really matter to me who Mordred's mom is, though Mists of Avalon is one of my favorites and Morgaine is Mordred's mother in that one.

I tend to like the complexity of Morgan’s relationship with Arthur if she’s the mother of Mordred and the Orkney boys, since she tends to get shoved to the side otherwise in stuff like Once and Future King. It’s a shame that she gets relegated to a cardboard villain in so many adaptations that leave out all the horseshit that Uther pulled with Gorlois and Igraine
