I was very impolitely referred to as "not a professional" by a random person just being rude like they do and I think that opens up a whole tangled mess of there being some invisible distinction in who is allowed to claim themselves a "real voice actor".

OHO WORM this reminds me of a thread back when the Voice Acting Alliance was still a thing and one guy tried arguing REALLY REALLY HARD that if you recorded from a home setup then it meant you weren't a professional and the whole thing was just TWISTING SHIT PRETZEL LOGIC

Indie games recorded using home setups? Not professional. Commercials? Not professional. Industry veterans using home set ups and remote recordings themselves? NOT PROFESSIONAL (but only because of the means of recording, the rest of their career was good because studio time).

It got to the point where he WOULD NOT BE CONVINCED unless a PROPER. LEGIT. MULTI-NATIONAL company used remote recordings. Whereupon
@LauraPostVoice popped in the thread, said she recorded remotely for a Warner Brothers Interactive AAA game, and that he could go fuck himself dry.1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes -
