Poll also found little evidence of a Trump backlash. When asked whether their vote for a House candidate will be to send a positive or negative msg to Trump, 20% said it will be to support him, 23% said it will be to oppose him and 53% said they won't be sending any msg w vote

The Gallup poll also found that Republicans and Democrats were equally likely to say they're certain that they'll vote in November.https://news.gallup.com/poll/235835/americans-certainty-voting-year-starting-low.aspx …

a big clue as to why: it says that 1954-2014 data is the final poll before the election in October or November, as opposed to June for 2018. sort of like comparing apples & oranges.

Actually, they noted that they were asking earlier in the election year this time, but said that their past research has not shown that the intention hasn't changed over the course of the cycle.

Would have been nice to see a breakdown by political party. Otherwise I'm not sure how relevant this data is. I mean, it says 2006 & 2010 are the same here. Those were very different elections.

Gallup said in the write-about about the poll that Rs and Ds were at near parity, w 65% of Rs and 64% of Ds saying they were certain they'll vote in the fall. I had link to what they posted if you want to look

Here’s a theory I’m pushing. The Russians love to wreak mayhem w/hacking & they’re good at it. Add to them sci-fi evil stuff like CambAnalyt. Tilt elections. Shut down a nuke. Brainwash voters. Etc. No one considering Big Polls can be hacked? Plumped/shaved en/dis-courage voters.

Republicans will stay home. They can't admit they were wrong and fix what they broke.

They never stay home. I don’t believe it.

In Australia Electors who fail to vote at a State election & do not provide a valid and sufficient reason for such failure, will be fined. The penalty for first time offenders is $20, & this increases to $50 if you have previously paid a penalty or been convicted of this offence.

We also have paper ballots for all elections that are counted by real people. Elections are held on Saturday and candidate with most votes wins.
