First: a graveyard of bits that got scratched, marred, shitty soldering, and there's even a full earring fully made that I fried the LEDs on at the very end. Which is why I'm not making *another* second earring today

Soldering these wires is a huge pain. Hit 'em briefly with a lighter at the tip. Don't tin them, won't work. Pre-solder your pads, then solder them to the pads, it'll work.pic.twitter.com/x5801GyTId
I used two strands of these itty bitty LEDs on copper wire from @EffulgentLED. Twisted them together so they were offset.pic.twitter.com/eX5WbSLaoF
Some deft hot glue maneuvers to place the LEDs inside the hollow heart. Of all the hot glue I had to pull off, this was easiest, and it wasn't very
I like this kind of challenge though.pic.twitter.com/ahAl4l0cmf
Sandwich the hearts around the hollow hearts, one side a one-way mirror, the other a two-way mirror. This was the hardest hot glue job I've maybe ever done. Worked eventually though.pic.twitter.com/1WJjUxdf3f
Glue your battery to the back. Try not to fry your LEDs in a silly way. Try to not bend the wires too often, they are somewhat frail.pic.twitter.com/qaJdiysSK0
And finally, I had to figure out jewelry findings. I ran a jewelry business for years, so not too hard for me, but complicated. A pin that I put through the thick earring (I had placed holes), looped at both ends, then some jumprings so it faces forward and a titanium fishhook .pic.twitter.com/uQpm1Xx2xP
Ooo, important note. I use this hot glue and a fine tip glue gun. Don't try this with a regular glue gun or sticks for forks sake
It's all secure, also I wouldn't sell them as a hard pull on the layers would pop them apart. I love hot glue. Hot glue the planet.pic.twitter.com/gunfY0Wkb6
At popular request: This earring weighs 6oz with battery. Right at the limit of my tolerance for an earring. My plan is to replace the 3mm thick acrylic one and two-way mirrors at the front and back with 1mm acrylic to cut weight. Stay tuned, I'll work on that next weekend.
As this blows up (thank you): If you made it this far and feel friendly, I also post green solarpunk-esque open source hardware/adventure shenanaigans on Instagram at TheMagicToolBus, my converted maker bus account that wouldn't hate some love
