Rep. John Conyers endorses his son to succeed him—House seats are hereditary peerages nowadays. But wait! Young Conyers will be opposed by a state senator named...Conyers, grandson of Rep. Conyers’ brother. Family Feud! Democracy at work in 2017.

I'm sure the Republicans will stay consistent and say this is for the people of that Michigan district to decide. 🙄

Yet we have unelected Kushner trying to solve peace in the Middle East by acting as defacto Secretary of State! His only qualification being the President’s Son-in-Law.

...his son. ...his son. 'cause, you know, it would be absolutely ridiculous to think his son may hold/share/demonstrate the same behaviors that *motivated dad's retirement.

So much for "Mr Smith Goes to Washington" ... and returns to his farm and plowshare. Conyers, in between time spent harassing female staffers, spent 52 years in Congress. I'm 52 y/o ... and feel ... OLD. Hate to say it, but term limits as policy needs be revisited ...

Adams and Adams. Harrison and Harrison. Lincoln and Lincoln. There is nothing new under the sun. Multiple members of the same family running for office is as old as the republic. That said, we are in deep excrement, and this would be a good time to change it up.

Achilles's tendon of US democracy has always been last names; instead of party ID, we trust last names and give dynastic significance to names like Kennedy, Bush, Clinton etc. To solve: Spouses and children of incumbents can only run with a different last name.
