I can see where your coming from but if it's only done for likes, then there's reall no point in doing it all, because there's always going to be someone more popular than you, whether better or worse.

i guess so, but those are two different groups of people so it can't really be compared in my opinion. what people like, people like. i don't mind if people like my art or not.

It does get damaging when you try to sell your art. Even if I deny it, likes means people are watching you, if people likes your art, then you will gain followers. Some of them will show others and they could be a potential client. What happens when there’s no likes?

Yeah but social media is sort of a reverse meritocracy - art that takes time to digest is simply not the intended content for most platforms. People want to look at something for 3-4 seconds, think to themselves “oh I get it!” and move on
