There is no difference, but using ad block isn't illegal, and choosing to bypass the ad is a valid option. That's just one of the risks you run into with the ad model
I just see it as selfish, the video maker at a loss uploading as they put hours of effort into making entertainment for you and paid for equipment, and you can't put in 5 seconds to see an ad and give the bare minimum back. You don't even have too look at it, just let it play.

The only other options are you pay, or the artist does other things so he can live, taking away time from making content, so now there is less of it you can see or none. The money has to come from somewhere, and ads only cost you a couple seconds of time per video.
