Now that I've gained more popularity then I ever expected, I'm earning real income based on these. Most of the time, these midis are on free file sharing sites. However, I do understand frustration from sites like Musescore. Credit will be given from now on in cases like these.
Legaly, for monetizing a cover of a song you would have to get mechanical rights for the melody, YT has a good feature (for once) where you can split revenue for covers, my Beatles covers have that, though it seems like you can't request a claim yourself if it was not directed.
I did overturn the revinue sharing one time on that Evangelion one I mentioned. But for the most part, I don't mind.
