I've always been ride or die for Sonic 3, but for ages it felt like Sonic 2 was the undisputed Best Sonic everyone referred to. Maybe that consensus has shifted over time? It feels like it has

From what I saw, Sonic CD was the one everyone loved, until people turned their backs on it. I personally dislike it, it has great music and art, but the odd non-linear gameplay never did it for me. I love Sonic 2 but I rarely heard it be called the best.

Yeah, that's always been my take re: CD - great music/aesthetic, cannot get past the level design. I get why it has fans but I can also see why its star has faded a bit
