I’m beginning to seriously consider starting up a GoFundMe or something like that to try saving for a new computer. Mine seems to be getting worse every day. I was working on it just now and it randomly shut down without warning. Like it just went from on to off in a split second

I talked with the guy who sold me the computer 8 years ago, and he said he can upgrade it significantly for around $600. That’s not a ton of money, but it’s also not exactly pocket change either. My only real concern is the possibility of my Vegas files not working afterwards.

Then again, if I don’t upgrade soon I could potentially lose my whole computer and everything on it. Maybe. I’m not very knowledgeable on computers. Also it’s still running on Windows 7, which Microsoft is only supporting through the end of this year.

It might be worth it to try a clean reinstall of Windows before investing a ton of $. I've been meaning to do that to my laptop (also runs Win 7), My original 5+ year old one one died so I bought the same model and just swapped drives and it carried over a lot of the same issues.

I wanted to buy a new hard drive before doing a clean install, just in case it goes wrong I can just plug the old one back in. Also shutting down mid use can be a overheating issue, at the start of the summer heat I had the same issue, but a desk fan pointed at my pc stopped it.
