Fuck right off with this. I’ve had crippling anxiety for longer than I can remember and I can tell you from experience that the worst thing you can do is convince yourself that you’re powerless to beat it. Passing up opportunities to grow for comforts sake is damaging as hell.https://twitter.com/insaneasyIums/status/1038627826277249025 …

I had a public speaking class in college once and I remember walking to the door on presentation day, freezing, turning away and never coming back to the class again. Ever. If I never made efforts to try and beat that anxiety I might still be the mess I used to be. Or worse.

I agree, however I also agree with her that students shouldn't be forced to present to the class.

It's an important skill to have, For me it's taken years of Drama/ Improv club, Public Speaking classes, Journalism Class where I had to talk to and film strangers, and Piano performances in from of the class to get to a point where I can at least do it somewhat well (1/2)

I still can talk fast or get a bit jittery or anxious but I came a long way since Middle School. Going up and talking in front of a bunch of people or people you don't know are necessary for many aspects of life, and like any skill, social skills take practice. (2/2)
