We lost so much original knowledge bc of that. We were once described as being one of the most skilled fishermen in the Pacific. Sad.

The last galaide' was found by a European sailor in 1714 on Tinian & was used (improperly) by Spanish to transport food from Tinian to Guam

After describing it, the sailor took it apart & burned it. The next Spanish Gov. of Guam arrived & said Chamorros had no seafaring vessels.

I cannot begin to describe how mad & sad this tragedy makes me. We once were a seafaring people who pulled in marlins & tuna like nothing.
