Included in this ignorance is not understanding the difference between intent and impact. Moreover, speaking for others (especially people of marginalized cultures) magnifies the impact.

I'm glad you appreciated it. I'm not kanaka, and my intention isn't to speak on their behalf. Yet I can't stand by idly when I hear what I perceive as whitesplaining.
