My maternal lineage features more than a few Spanish names: Amado, Juan, Ponce, Domingo, Concepción. @23andMe proved that those names -- and the colonial religion -- are the sum total of my Spanish heritage. #Filipinxhttps://twitter.com/Lani4Pasifika/status/1333247861148971009 …
My genealogy is in a book, which made sure to put a *(Spanish) next to the ancestors who were not Chamorro. I have just one, but I don't claim them nor do they me I'm sure as it was in the 1800's. But my last name is "Spanish", though I am not Spanish.

Neither side of my family has much of a recorded genealogy. One of the main takeaways of having my DNA run was that the Chinese woman my grandfather thought was his mother was not in fact his mother.
