I understand why so many Hawaiian people are mad about the Lilo casting, but could you imagine being that little Hawaiian girl hearing that you aren’t Hawaiian enough to play a Hawaiian. That she isn’t enough.

Keiki a ka Pueo @keikiakapueoReplying to @maluwritesThe people saying she's not Hawaiian are loud, wrong assholes. But the people saying "yes she is Hawaiian but here's another example of colorism harming and erasing Brown and Black people and taking representation from them" should be listened to1 reply 0 retweets 4 likes -

Thank you. I understand that wholeheartedly. However, I also sympathize with this young girl getting a role of a lifetime and seeing all this hate directed (maybe not at her) but about her.

I get you
It's not my place to judge the ones who are angry at the colorism, but I WILL heavily look at the ones who imply that color is a form of native identity.
As for the actress, 16 is a tender age to receive it, but unfortunately Disney & Hollywood dont make it easier.2 replies 0 retweets 2 likes -

At the end of the day, people aren't mad at the actress, they are mad at the industry, the giant colonialist corporation called Disney, & I sympathize there. So many say "Fck Disney anyway why derive happiness from them" but that just invalidates the argument w/o addressing it.
