A humuhumunukunukuapua’a in Tahiti chased me and tried to bite me while I was snorkeling today. They’re so aggressive here ! Are they like that in Hawai’i too ?

I knew she was talking about pulonnon just from the description! I've only encountered a pulonnon twice, and both times kaksaka chased me all the way in shore. Dispensa yu' Sainan Pulonnon, hågu ha' i puti'on ge'halom i mongmong-hu.

I love them but it's the slingjaws I absolutely hate

oh no! Please be safe, triggers are SUPER EASILY TRIGGERED when you're in their territory. There's big ones in my home island's reefs and they're so aggressive that there have been divers who shot up to the surface to escape them and literally got the bends and even died.
